Stage One: The Design Consultation

The process starts with a consultation. This can be done via WhatsApp, email, or video call depending on your preference and location. There is no charge for the consultation.

Before the consultation, it helps to collect reference images of rings you like. Pinterest and Instagram are the most useful sources. You do not need to know the technical names for what you are looking at. A collection of images that shows what appeals to you is enough to start a productive conversation.

In the consultation we discuss the style direction, stone shape and size, setting type, metal choice, and budget. We ask questions about the person who will wear the ring: her existing jewellery, her lifestyle, whether she prefers minimal or more elaborate designs. The goal is to understand not just what you want but what will suit her specifically.

At the end of the consultation you will have a clear brief for the design. No payment is required at this stage.

Stage Two: CAD Design and Renders

From the brief, our designer produces a CAD model of the ring. CAD stands for computer-aided design. The model is a precise three-dimensional representation of the ring, accurate to fractions of a millimetre, which allows us to produce photorealistic renders showing exactly how the ring will look from every angle.

The renders are sent to you within five to seven working days of the consultation. You will see the ring from the top, the side, the profile, and in some cases from beneath. The renders are detailed enough to show the prong style, the surface texture of the metal, and how the stone sits within the setting.

This is the stage where you can request changes. Common adjustments include modifying the band width, changing the prong count, adjusting the height of the setting, altering the ratio of the stone to the band, or requesting a different profile on the underside of the band. Each set of changes typically takes two to three working days.

We go through as many revision rounds as needed to get the design right. There is no limit on revisions and no additional charge for them. The goal is for you to see exactly what you are buying before any commitment is made.

Stage Three: Design Approval and Deposit

Once you are happy with the design, you approve it in writing and pay the deposit. The deposit is fifty percent of the total ring cost. No crafting begins until both the written approval and the deposit are received.

The design is locked at this point. Changes after design approval are not possible without restarting the process, which would extend the lead time and may affect the cost. This is why the revision process in Stage Two is so important. Take the time to get it right before approving.

Stage Four: Crafting

Once the deposit is received, the ring goes into production. The process starts with printing a wax model of the ring using the CAD file. This wax model is used in the lost-wax casting process: it is invested in casting material, the wax is burned out, and molten metal is cast into the resulting mould.

After casting, the ring is cleaned, filed, and prepared for stone setting. The centre stone and any accent stones are set by hand by an experienced stone setter. The ring is then polished to its final finish.

Before leaving the workshop, every ring is inspected under magnification to verify that all stones are secure, all surfaces are correctly finished, and the ring matches the approved CAD design. The ring is then photographed and packaged for delivery.

The crafting phase takes three to four weeks from deposit receipt.

Stage Five: Quality Check and Delivery

The completed ring is photographed before dispatch. The photographs are sent to you so you can see the finished piece before it arrives. If any element does not match the approved design or does not meet our quality standards, it is corrected before dispatch.

Delivery is via insured courier nationwide. Delivery typically takes two to three working days from dispatch. You will receive a tracking number once the ring is dispatched.

The ring is delivered in packaging appropriate for a proposal: a quality ring box, the GRA or IGI certificate for the stone, and a care guide.
