A platinum wedding ring is a band you can wear for the rest of your life without fuss. Platinum is dense and heavy in the hand, so the ring feels solid. It is naturally white, which means the colour you see is the metal itself and not a plated coating. It never needs re-plating. We make each platinum band to order in our South African workshop and deliver it free anywhere in the country.

Why platinum

Platinum is one of the densest metals used in jewellery. That weight is the first thing most men notice when they put the ring on. It is hard-wearing and holds up to daily knocks, so it suits hands that work. Over years of wear platinum develops a soft sheen on the surface where fine scratches gather, and a quick polish brings back the shine whenever you want it.

White gold is plated with rhodium to look bright, and that plating wears and needs redoing over time. Platinum has no plating. The white colour goes all the way through, so there is nothing to wear off and nothing to redo. You pay more for platinum than for gold, and in return you get a metal that stays as it is.

Widths and finishes

We make platinum bands from about 4mm to 8mm wide. A 4mm or 5mm band is slim and sits close to the finger. A 6mm band is the middle choice most men land on. A 7mm or 8mm band is broad and makes a heavier statement. Width is personal, so tell us what you have in mind and we can advise based on your finger size and how you use your hands.

You choose the finish. A polished finish is bright and reflective. A brushed finish has fine parallel lines and a soft satin look that hides day-to-day marks. A matte finish is flat with no shine. We can also combine finishes, such as a brushed centre with polished edges. Every band is made with a comfort fit, which means the inside of the ring is gently rounded so it slides on easily and sits comfortably through the day.

Adding a stone

If you want a small stone in the band, we can flush-set a moissanite or a lab-grown diamond so it sits level with the surface and does not catch on anything. This keeps the ring practical while adding a point of light. Moissanite comes with GRA certification and lab-grown diamonds come with IGI or GIA certification, which you can read about on our certification page. A plain band stays plain if that is what you prefer.

Ordering and timing

A made-to-order platinum band takes four to six weeks. We agree the width, finish and any stone with you first, confirm your ring size, and then make it. You can pay a deposit and balance, or use PayFlex, PayJustNow, Happy Pay or Mobicred. Delivery within South Africa is free and insured. Your ring carries our limited lifetime optical warranty and a 12-month manufacturing warranty, and your first resize within 12 months is free, which you can read about on our warranty page.

Does a platinum ring need re-plating?

No. Platinum is naturally white all the way through. There is no plating to wear off. A polish restores the shine whenever you want it.

How wide should my band be?

Most men choose 6mm. Slimmer hands often suit 4mm or 5mm, and broader hands carry 7mm or 8mm well. Tell us your finger size and we advise.

How long does a platinum band take to make?

Can I have a diamond in my platinum ring?
