Q: Can you make the ring bigger with a new stone?

Yes. We can supply a new centre stone and reset your original stone elsewhere in the design.

Q: How much does it cost to set my own stone?

It depends on the metal and setting. Send photos through the quote page and we give you a price for the ring.

You have the stone. We build the ring.

Maybe you inherited a loose diamond. Maybe you bought a moissanite years ago and never set it. Maybe a stone came out of an old ring you no longer wear. Whatever the stone is, you own it, and you want a new ring built around it. That is what we do. You send us the stone, we assess it, and we make a ring designed to hold it. The work happens in our South African workshop and we run the whole thing remotely by WhatsApp, email or video.

This is different from a full heirloom redesign, where we take apart an old ring. Here you already have a loose stone, or you can remove it yourself, and we start from the stone alone.

How to send your stone safely

First send us photos and any paperwork the stone came with, such as a certificate or an old valuation. Tell us the shape, the rough size and what you know about it. From that we give you a first idea of what suits it and a price range for the setting.

When you are ready, post the stone to us insured or arrange a drop-off. Pack it in a small sealed container inside a padded envelope so it cannot move. Use a tracked, insured service. We confirm the day it arrives. Every parcel that comes to us and goes back to you is handled the way we describe on our shipping and delivery page, with insured return delivery on the finished ring.

What we check when it arrives

We examine the stone under magnification. We measure it, check the shape and look for chips, cracks or wear along the edges. For a diamond or moissanite this tells us how it will hold up in a setting and which styles work. A stone in good condition sets with no trouble. A stone with an existing chip or a worn edge needs more care, and some cannot be set safely at all. If that is the case we tell you plainly before any work begins. We do not press a damaged stone into a setting and hope.

We do not buy your stone and we do not give cash valuations. The stone stays yours. We only build the ring around it.

Which settings suit which stones

The right setting depends on the stone. A round brilliant sits well in a solitaire, a halo or a three-stone design. An emerald cut or a princess cut suits a four-claw or a bezel that protects the corners. A softer or more brittle stone does better in a bezel, which wraps metal around the edge and guards it. A shallow or oddly proportioned stone sometimes needs a setting made just for it, which is where a made-to-order approach helps. Upgrading or adding a stone

Some people send us a stone and decide they want something bigger or brighter as the main stone. We can supply a new moissanite or lab-grown diamond for the centre and move your original stone to a shoulder or a second ring, so it stays part of the piece. New stones come with GRA certification for moissanite or IGI and GIA certification for lab-grown diamonds, and you can read more on our certification page. Whatever we build carries our limited lifetime optical warranty and a 12-month manufacturing warranty.

Can I send you a diamond from an old ring?

Yes. Remove it yourself or ask a local jeweller to remove it, then send us the loose stone. If you would rather send the whole ring, that is a heirloom redesign instead.

How do I know my stone will not be swapped?

We photograph and measure your stone when it arrives and again when it leaves. You keep the certificate. The stone that comes in is the stone that goes back in your ring.

What if my stone is damaged?

We tell you after we assess it. A chip or worn edge sometimes rules out certain settings, and some stones cannot be set safely at all. We explain the options.
